We have a new video to share with you today featuring the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon taking on a variety of classic American muscle cars at the drag strip. You may notice that many of the challenger cars in the video have been heavily modified.
However, before you complain about the unfairness of the match, keep in mind that the Demon is equipped with a supercharger attached to its 6.2-liter V8 engine, generating an impressive 808-horsepower and allowing the Mopar master to go from 0-60 in just 2.3 seconds. The other cars require the extra help to keep up.
What sets the Dodge Demon apart isn’t just its raw power, although that certainly helps. The car is packed with meticulously-designed features specifically aimed at maximizing its performance on the drag strip. One of these features is the Demon Crate, which includes 18-inch front wheels and an engine controller designed to extract the full potential from the engine, delivering up to 840-hp.
The car also utilizes lightweight materials, has an advanced Launch mode that cuts off fuel to certain cylinders as needed, and features a transmission with a shorter 3.09:1 final-drive ratio optimized for drag racing. With the Demon Crate, the car can even run on 100-plus-octane fuel.
