How’s a Twin-Turbo Gallardo Do Against the World’s Fastest Corvette Z06?
We all know the Lamborghini Gallardo is fast. With more than 540 horsepower and all-wheel-drive, the Italian supercar has no problem wiping the floor with just about any competitor. Somewhere along the line, tuners discovered fitting two turbos to the Lambo’s V10 makes them much faster. One of those tuners, Underground Racing, brought this Gallardo to the drag strip to battle it out against the world’s fastest drag-racing Z06.
While the turbo Gallardo makes well over 1000 horsepower, the Z06 is no slouch either. It’s built by Advanced Modern Performance, a shop in Dallas, Texas that specializes in making Corvettes go as fast as possible in a straight line. This Corvette, according to the video’s description, actually holds the world record for fastest Z06 quarter-mile, with a time of 9.3 seconds.
While it seems neither of the drivers got an optimal start, the Gallardo launches drama-free thanks to its four-wheel traction, while the Z06’s drag radials dig in immediately. Both cars set some impressive sub-10-second times, but the Gallardo manages to put up a mental 178 mph trap speed—in the quarter!
Take a look as two purpose-built, street legal drag monsters claw it out on the strip.
