Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock vs Challenger SRT Hellcat

The combination of a HEMI V8 engine and a supercharger whine creates a thrilling sound that perfectly embodies the essence of a muscle car. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, along with its various Hellcat-badged counterparts, excels at providing this experience. It’s no wonder that these cars can make you feel like a kid again, with a huge grin on your face and the hairs on the back of your neck standing up.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat caused a sensation among car enthusiasts, with its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine delivering an impressive 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Its popularity was fueled by its striking appearance, exhilarating performance, and the unique black key/red key system, which made drivers feel like they were launching a missile.

Although the Hellcat’s quarter-mile time was not exceptional on paper, it could easily be improved with drag radials. Even with a power boost for the 2019 model year, the base-spec Hellcat still clocked in at around 11 seconds.

However, drivers looking for even more speed could opt for the Redeye or the SRT Super Stock, with the latter featuring a boosted version of the Redeye’s engine delivering 807 horsepower. The Super Stock also had drag-optimized suspension tuning, a shorter final-drive ratio, and lightweight 18-inch wheels with drag radials.

In a video uploaded on September 30, a Super Stock was pitted against a stock Hellcat (equipped with drag radials) at Orlando Speed World. The Hellcat managed a respectable 10.3 seconds at 129 mph, but the Super Stock was even quicker, completing the quarter-mile in just 9.8 seconds at 138 mph.
